Government Urged To Deal With Insecurity And Accident Investigations In Aviation
Gen. Katumba Wamala the minister for works and transport has called upon the government to consider the continuously occurring incidents that happen at the airports and airlines due to insecurity and accidents that have destroyed the lives of victims saying these are not given the attention they must be.
He says these need to be improved since every country must have a team that carries out investigations on the airlines.
This was said today during the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority stakeholder’s engagement breakfast in Kampala.
Today were the celebrations of the international aviation week which is a key event for airlines, airports, tourism authorities, policy makers and aviation experts. It brought key players in the aviation industry from across the globe.
The minister for works and transport gen. Edward Katumba Wamala who presided over the function noted with concern that the government needs to take into account the challenges faced by airlines, and airports when it comes to insecurity and poor handling of investigations on accidents.
He noted that since the country is gearing up for NAM summit 2024 they have ensured that they prepare in advance to reflect the picture of the country.
Fred Bamwesigye Director General at Uganda Civil Aviation Authority attributed that as a committee they have invested a lot financially for the upcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit where by teams have been recruited to handle the special guests.
Uganda is set to host the 19th NAM Summit at the Speke Resort Munyonyo scheduled for January 2024 under the theme Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluences.
